Prequel to the Prequel

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season / 呪術廻戦 懐玉・玉折/渋谷事変) is a bit of a mess when it comes to chronology. It covers three story arcs, though, two of them are connected. These story arcs are Hidden Inventory, Premature Death, and Shibuya Incident.

Alright, so why is this season a mess? Remember how Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was the prequel to Season 1? Well, Hidden Inventory and Premature Death are prequels to Jujutsu Kaisen 0. They’re prequels to the prequel. And then, Shibuya Incident is the sequel to Season 1. So, in this season, we get both the earliest and latest arcs to date.

This also means that it’s more important than ever to watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0. If you skipped this movie, you should go back and watch it. Hidden Inventory and Premature Death lead into that movie. And, a certain character from 0 shows up at the end of the Shibuya Incident.

Satoru Gojou and Surugu Getou

Now, let’s talk about Hidden Inventory and Premature Death. These arcs are the origin stories of Satoru Gojou and Surugu Getou. Back in their high school days, they were friends. And, they were considered some of the strongest sorcerers alive.

But, their paths diverged pretty drastically. As we know, Gojou became the strongest sorcerer in the jujutsu world. And Getou became a villain whose goal was to eradicate all non-sorcerers. However, the Getou we know in the present timeline isn’t the same Getou. That’s explained in Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

What I found most interesting about this prequel is how their roles were almost reversed. Getou almost became the hero due to wanting to eliminate curses from the world. But, he chose the wrong way of doing it. And Gojou almost snapped and became Sukuna II due to what happened to Riko.

The Sealing of Satoru Gojou

A lot of crazy stuff happened in this season — both in the first arc(s) and the second. But, the craziest thing of all was probably the sealing of Satoru Gojou. This was one of the major goals of the Shibuya Incident.

Considering everything that comes later in the arc, this might not seem like that big of a deal. But, it’s Gojou’s sealing that allows a lot of what follows to happen. And, in the final episode, we’re explicitly told how Gojou’s absence changes things. It’s kind of a big deal.

Something that surprised me about Gojou’s sealing was how little he accomplished beforehand. Sure, he was fighting three special-grade curses and a jujutsu sorcerer. And sure, he was in a crowded train station and didn’t want to kill any civilians. But, he only managed to take down one special-grade curse.

Satoru Gojou fighting in Shibuya

Hanami got obliterated by Gojou. But, Jougo, Mahito, and Chousou all survived the encounter. Though, in Chousou’s case, he likely wasn’t seen as much of a threat. The special-grade curses were more important for Gojou to take down. And, I guess he could have taken down more of them if Getou hadn’t shown up to seal him.

Anyway, as I said, Gojou’s sealing is what allowed everything else that followed to happen. If he wasn’t sealed, the special-grade curses wouldn’t have been able to run wild. In particular, Mahito and Jougo wouldn’t have been able to do everything they did.

And, if that were the case, then there would be quite a few characters still alive. Spoilers here, but Nanami and Nobara are two, in particular, who may have survived the incident. But, there are still plenty of others who would have died this season anyway — like Mechamaru.

Shibuya Incident

The second half of the Shibuya Incident arc is just one crazy fight after another. There are so many that I’m probably going to forget some. But, let’s go through the highlights starting with Itadori vs. Chousou.

Itadori vs. Chousou was a cool fight because it involved a lot more martial arts than some of the later fights. They were both using their jujutsu techniques. But, it was nothing like the fights that came after.

Speaking of crazy fights that came after, there was Sukuna vs. Mahoraga. Mahoraga is some sort of deity that Fushiguro summoned with his technique. This was the first crazy fight of the arc. Anytime Sukuna starts fighting, you know it’s going to be wild.

After that, we got Sukuna vs. Jougo, which may have been the best fight. In it, we got to see Jougo use his full strength. And, we got to see Sukuna reveal his true technique.

Sukuna fighting in Shibuya from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
Sukuna fighting in Shibuya

Then, we got Itadori and Todou vs. Mahito. Itadori and Mahito aren’t as exciting as Sukuna, Mahoraga, and Jougo. But, when you add Todou into the mix, it makes the fight great. It’s no stretch to say that Todou was the star of this fight.

So, who did we lose throughout this season?

Well, Riko died in Premature Death. But, the Shibuya Incident saw the deaths of a lot of characters. There are the special-grade curses Hanami, Dagon, Jougo, and Mahito. Then, there are the sorcerers Mechamaru, Nobara, and Nanami.

Maki and Naobito Zenin might be dead. The last we saw of them, they got fried by Jougo. Oh, and both Todou and Inumaki suffered serious injuries. I don’t remember how this happened, but Inumaki lost both of his arms. Todou lost one of his hands to Mahito. Did I miss anyone?

Final Thoughts

Overall, I gave Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 an 8/10. It was pretty close to earning a 9. But, there were a few things holding it back. One of the big ones was Nobara’s death episode. No matter what happened in that episode, I was not going to care one bit.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47 Review

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47 Review

It’s Time to Punch Getou in the Brain

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47 was a disappointing way to end the season. That was not a good episode. On top of that, I didn’t really understand some of what was going on at the start.

I don’t know if I didn’t understand it because it was explained poorly. Or, if it was because I’m still sick and my brain isn’t working properly. In fact, I don’t even know what it is that I didn’t understand. Getou and Yuki were talking to each other and their words were going right over my head.

What I did understand, though, is that it’s time to punch Getou in the brain. Yuki told Itadori and the others that they all need to work together to take Getou down. And then, that didn’t happen. Getou used some sorcery, summoned a bunch of curses, and disappeared.

Yuki Tsukumo from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47
Yuki Tsukumo

This got me thinking, though. What is Yuki’s cursed technique? Do we know and I’m forgetting? I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. I’m pretty confident that we don’t know anything about how she fights. All we know is that she’s special-grade and has some sort of dragon thing following her around.

Well, actually, we know one more thing. We know that she’s the one who trained Toudou. So, does this mean she’s a powerful physical fighter like he is? Does she fight with her fists and only use her cursed technique to complement her fighting style?

Or, does her dragon-thing imply something else? Does it imply she has a similar cursed technique to Fushiguro’s? I don’t see her having the same curse manipulation technique as Getou. But, I have to assume the dragon has something to do with her technique. Is it her familiar? Is it even a curse?

Return of the Heian Period

Until now, it was a bit unclear what Getou’s goal was. Well, sort of. Technically, we’ve known what Getou’s goal has been for a long time. Getou wanted to eradicate curses from the world. And his way of achieving that was by eradicating non-sorcerers.

If you remember from the start of the season, we learned that non-sorcerers are the main source of curses. So, if Getou eliminates all non-sorcerers, then that solves the curse issue. But, if there are no curses, is there cursed energy? And if there’s no cursed energy, are there sorcerers? I don’t know.

What I do know is that the guy I’ve been calling Getou (and will continue to call Getou) isn’t Getou. This is a brain that’s using Getou’s corpse as a body. And this Getou wants something very different than the original Getou.

Getou holding a sealed Gojou from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47
Getou holding a sealed Gojou

Brain Getou wants pure chaos. He doesn’t care if humans or curses, sorcerers or non-sorcerers are the ones on top. He doesn’t exactly want anyone on top. But, he also doesn’t want peace. He wants a world in which everyone is fighting for their lives no matter who they are.

At least, that’s what I understood from his little speech at the start. Again, I feel like a lot of what he said went over my head. But, if I have that right, this goes against everything the original Getou was fighting for. The original Getou wanted peace, not chaos.

Interestingly, the world Brain Getou wants to bring back is the Heian. The Heian period of Japan was a peaceful period. But, according to Brain Getou, this Heian world he wants to revive is the “golden age of jujutsu.” And, I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound like a very peaceful time to me.

Itadori’s Execution Is Back On

In case you forgot, there was only one reason why Itadori’s execution was stayed: Satoru Gojou. Gojou wanted to protect and train Itadori. And because he’s Gojou, the rest of the jujutsu world couldn’t really say no. But, now that Gojou’s sealed, Itadori’s execution is back on.

However, what’s more interesting is how the jujutsu world reacted to the Shibuya Incident as a whole. The reinstatement of Itadori’s execution is only part of it. And, it’s the part that arguably makes the most sense. A lot of sorcerers fear Sukuna’s power within Itadori and think his death would be for the greater good.

But, what about the other notices the Jujutsu Headquarters put out?

First, they reinstated the Getou’s death sentence. This doesn’t quite make sense because it fails to acknowledge that this isn’t Getou. Whoever’s brain is inside Getou’s body is far more dangerous.

Yuuta Okkotsu from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47
Yuuta Okkotsu

Second, they declared that Gojou was an accomplice in the Shibuya Incident. Why would they do this? Well, we know that there are many sorcerer clans that hated the Gojou clan. They were jealous of the Gojou clan’s power. So, this is a way for these clans to maintain their newfound power by keeping Gojou sealed.

Third, the jujutsu high principal was sentenced to death for being another accomplice. Why? He sided with Gojou on the Itadori issue. So, he has to go.

And lastly, Yuuta Okkotsu is the one who’s going to carry out Itadori’s execution.

This one is another odd one because Yuuta used to be in the same situation as Itadori. There was a time when they wanted to execute him — and they still seem to. But, as far as I know, he’s the last remaining special-grade sorcerer the Jujutsu Headquarters has to rely on.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of the final episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2? Do you have a prediction about Yuki Tsukumo’s cursed technique? Why do you think Getou wants to cause absolute chaos? And, who do you think would win between Itadori and Yuuta? Let me know in the comments.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46 Review

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46 Review

Insider Trading with Mei Mei

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46 is a step down from most of the recent episodes. It’s not as good as something like Episode 45. But, that’s okay. Not every episode can be peak. Though, some would argue the scene with Mei Mei at the start is peak.

Now, I thought this scene with Mei Mei was pretty good. But, probably not for the reason you’d first expect. Yes, the visuals were nice. However, the way Mei Mei reacts to the Shibuya incident is far more interesting. To her, this is business.

Of course, we already knew that Mei Mei views being a jujutsu sorcerer as a way to make money. She’s not helping people for free. But, I wasn’t expecting her to also be trading stocks based on curse-related disasters. She’s literally using her position as a sorcerer to engage in insider trading.

Mei Mei in bed with Ui Ui from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46
Mei Mei in bed with Ui Ui

Alright, let’s have a lesson on insider trading. Why does what Mei Mei is doing count as that? It’s pretty simple. As a jujutsu sorcerer, she has insider information about what’s happening in Shibuya. Most people don’t know that it’s gone. That’s the point of putting up a veil.

Veils block your average person from being able to see what’s happening. Sorcerers don’t want normal citizens to see them fighting curses and stuff. So, Mei Mei has an unfair advantage in the stock market due to her knowledge. She can sell her stocks at their current prices before information gets out and they tank.

Something else to keep in mind, though, is that Mei Mei isn’t even fighting anymore. She left the battlefield to do this. While her comrades are risking their lives fighting Getou, she’s in a hotel making money. I’m not sure I’d trust her after this.

Slurping Up Mahito

After Getou (I know it’s not actually Getou) appeared and offered to save Mahito, I made a protection. I said that he was going to use his ability to slurp up Mahito. And, that’s exactly what we saw happen.

But, I was expecting it to go down a bit differently. I thought Mahito would ask Getou for help, and Getou would absorb him in response. I wasn’t expecting Mahito to lunge at Getou in an attempt to transfigure him. But, I guess that makes sense when you consider Mahito is a curse.

After absorbing Mahito, Getou begins talking about the ultimate technique of curse manipulation. Rather than releasing and controlling a curse multiple times, he can use it all up at once in a powerful attack. And, this powerful attack looks a lot like a domain expansion.

Getou holding Mahito's essence from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46
Getou holding Mahito’s essence

Is this actually the best way to use Getou’s cursed technique, though? From my understanding, he burned up Mahito’s essence to use a one-shot attack on Miwa (that didn’t even hit her). That doesn’t sound very effective. Having a special-grade curse like Mahito running wild would do a lot more damage. The sorcerers would also have to spend time dealing with it.

Now, if Getou wasn’t going to be able to control Mahito, what he did makes sense. Well, except for using Mahito up on attacking Miwa. That still doesn’t make sense. Miwa’s not a worthy target for an attack like that. He’d be better off saving that for taking a grade 1 sorcerer by surprise.

Of course, maybe none of this matters. If Getou knows he’s not going to lose here, why does it matter if he wastes Mahito? It could be better for him to throw out an attack like that to show his true power.

Chousou vs. Getou

The Chousou vs. Getou fight wasn’t as good as other recent fights in the series. I didn’t feel like anything Chousou was doing was all that interesting. Sure, he used his technique in a lot of different ways. But, there didn’t seem to be much thought behind his attacks.

With that said, that may have been the intention. Chousou was so enraged that he was lashing out at Getou without thinking. If that’s what Gege was going for when he wrote this part, then he did a great job. However, that still doesn’t make for an engaging fight.

Okay, but, it’s not like this fight was terrible. I didn’t like Chousou’s part in it. But, Getou made the fight pretty good. And the reason why is because of how he was fighting. He was using a wide range of curses to respond to Chousou’s attacks.

Chousou fighting Getou from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46
Chousou fighting Getou

The picture above shows Chousou as he’s about to shoot a beam of blood at Getou. There’s nothing too interesting about that. But, Getou sees this coming. It’s the same attack Chousou has used a few times already. So, what does Getou do? He prepares for it by placing a cursed spirit that reflects things behind him.

When Chousou fires off his attack, Getou dodges and lets the cursed spirit reflect the attack back. It’s things like that that show how much more combat experience Getou has. He’s thinking steps ahead and planning for what he expects Chousou to do.

From what I remember, this also ties back to something stated about Chousou in an earlier episode. Unless I’m wrong, it was stated that Chousou doesn’t have much combat experience at all. His fight against Itadori was his first high-stakes fight. So, it’s no wonder Getou would be running circles around him.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 46? Has Mei Mei abandoned being a jujutsu sorcerer? Was it a good idea for Getou to waste Mahito’s essence on Miwa? And, what did you think of the fight between Chousou and Getou? Let me know in the comments.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 45 Review

Identifying the True Threat

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 45 is probably the peak of the season. I think we all know why that is. But, I’ll get to that part of the episode later in this review. First, we need to discuss how Mahito prioritized his opponents.

Based on how Episode 44 went, Mahito realized he didn’t have a good chance of winning this fight. At least, not while Toudou and Itadori are working together. As discussed in the previous review, those two complement each other perfectly.

So, Mahito figures out that if he wants to win, he needs to separate them. But, which one of them should he prioritize? He knows Toudou can’t damage him. And, he also knows he likely has a good chance at beating Itadori one on one.

Aoi Toudou and Yuuji Itadori in the Shibuya wasteland from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 45
Aoi Toudou and Yuuji Itadori in the Shibuya wasteland

At first, Mahito tries prioritizing Itadori. He sends some transfigured humans off to distract Toudou so he can fight Itadori alone. And, at first, this seems like a good idea. But, he underestimated Toudou and it wasn’t long before Toudou was back at Itadori’s side. So, Mahito turns his attention to Toudou.

Mahito uses his domain expansion to throw both Itadori and Toudou off. Then, he uses that opening to attack Toudou and cut off one of Toudou’s hands. This was a great idea, as now Toudou can’t use his technique. At least, that’s what Mahito assumes. But, Toudou isn’t a grade 1 sorcerer for nothing.

Something we’ve known about Toudou since Season 1 is that he’s a master of hiding information.

At first, Mahito thought Toudou could only teleport other people. Then, Toudou revealed he could teleport himself. Next, Mahito thought he could only teleport people. Then, Toudou revealed he could swap people with objects. That’s not all he was hiding.

The Power of Takada-chan

Before I get to the next bit of information Toudou was hiding, there’s something else we need to talk about. What did you think was going to be inside the locket Toudou keeps around his neck? I didn’t expect it to be pictures of Itadori and Takada-chan. And it’s clear Mahito didn’t either.

In hindsight, a picture of Nobuko “Tall Idol Takada-chan” Takada makes sense. The wild part was that there was a picture of Itadori in there, too. I burst out laughing when I saw that. But, I thought there was going to be a picture of someone else entirely.

When Mahito used his domain expansion, the narrator gave us some interesting information. Apparently, Toudou was trained by Yuki Tsukumo. Who’s that? She’s the special-grade sorcerer we saw in the first arc of this season looking for Gojou. She’s the one who called Getou crazy for wanting to eradicate non-sorcerers.

Aoi Toudou and Nobuko Takada from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 45
Aoi Toudou and Nobuko Takada

Since we got this information right before the locket incident, I assumed her picture was in there. But, to be honest, I’m glad I was wrong. What was actually in Toudou’s locket was way better than that.

Toudou teaming up with Takada-chan in his imagination to fight Mahito is the best part of the season. It’s probably the best part of the entire series. I’m having a hard time seeing how this moment is going to be topped. And, the fact that we got a Takada-chan insert song during it made the scene even better.

But, back to Toudou’s masterful information manipulation. He does this flurry of attacks against Mahito all to set up an opening for him to slap Mahito’s hand. And, when he does so, he swaps places with Itadori. Mahito wasn’t expecting that Toudou could “clap” with someone else’s hand.

Mahito’s Metamorphosis

After taking a direct hit from Itadori’s Black Flash, Mahito came to realize the “true shape” of his soul. I guess you could call this his “Perfect” form. But, to me, he looks like an edgier (literally) version of Frieza. It’s the tail that does it.

Anyway, once Mahito changes into this form, it’s pretty much all over for Itadori. Toudou’s already out of the fight. And, Itadori’s normal attacks aren’t doing any damage to Mahito in this state. He has to hit him with another Black Flash. But, without Toudou, how’s he supposed to land a hit?

At this point, I thought the solution was obvious. Itadori would have to rely on Sukuna’s power despite how much he doesn’t want to. This was almost the perfect setup for that to happen. But, Toudou had one more surprise in store for Mahito.

Yuuji Itadori fighting Perfect Mahito from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 45
Yuuji Itadori fighting Perfect Mahito

By this point in the fight, Mahito has been conditioned by Toudou. Every time Mahito thought he knew the limits of Toudou’s ability, Toudou proved him wrong. Now, it’s time for Toudou to do the opposite. He fakes having an ability that he doesn’t actually have. And Mahito falls for it.

Toudou gets up and gives a short speech. He says his arms are just decorations and that applause comes from the soul. Then, he claps his remaining hand against his stump, as if that’s going to teleport Mahito or Itadori. So, Mahito reacts as if this is going to work — because everything Toudou’s done so far has worked.

But, it was all a ruse. Toudou’s ability does have limitations. He can’t do a one-handed clap. He needs another hand for it to work, even if it’s not his. But, by the time Mahito realized what happened, it was too late.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 45? Should Mahito have prioritized taking out Itadori or Toudou? Do you agree that Toudou’s locket reveal was the best part of the series to date? And, what are your thoughts on Mahito’s “Perfect” form? Let me know in the comments.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 44 Review

The Hero Arrives

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 44 was way better than I expected it to be. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen in this episode. But, I just had a feeling that it wouldn’t be too good. Well, I was wrong.

It’s amazing how adding Aoi Toudou to an episode can completely change my opinion. He’s really the best character in the series. Itadori? No thanks. Gojou? Overhyped. Fushiguro? Bootleg Sasuke. Toudou, however, is awesome. He’s a cool guy and has a simple, yet dynamic cursed technique.

Toudou’s entrance into this episode might have been the best part. After determining that Getou already escaped with Gojou, Toudou changes gears. He decides to save the remaining sorcerers who are still locked in combat. And, he rightfully assumes that Itadori is somewhere nearby. Then, when he finds Itadori, he doesn’t even pay attention to Mahito. What a chad.

Toudou and Itadori teaming up to fight Mahito from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 44
Toudou and Itadori teaming up to fight Mahito

There’s no way Toudou couldn’t tell that Mahito was a special-grade curse. He also saw that Nobara was dead and Itadori was about to die. And still, he wasn’t concerned with Mahito. Why? Because Toudou has absolute confidence in himself and his allies.

Even upon learning that Mahito killed Nanami, a grade 1 sorcerer, Toudou’s demeanor didn’t change. As a grade 1 sorcerer himself, Toudou knows what it means to be a sorcerer. It means you could die at any time. And it means that if you do die, your comrades will continue to fight.

Yeah, in case you forgot, Toudou is on par with sorcerers like Nanami and Mei Mei. We know how strong those two are. Mei Mei even exorcised a special-grade curse earlier in this arc. And, Mei Mei was one of the grade 1 sorcerers who recommended Toudou for his promotion.

Reinforcements Are on the Way

Something I hadn’t noticed is that there were quite a few sorcerers not in Shibuya. Specifically, Utahime, Noritoshi, Kasumi, Momo, and Mai. I assumed they were around doing things and that we just hadn’t seen them. But, that’s not the case. They were outside Shibuya.

Why were they away from Shibuya during this major event? Mechamaru made sure they were away on a different mission at the time. He knew the Shibuya event was going to happen and he didn’t want them caught up in it. He assumed they wouldn’t survive.

Was that assumption correct? Unfortunately for those he determined “too weak,” he was probably right. As far as I know, none of them, even Utahime, who’s a teacher at Jujutsu High, are grade 1 sorcerers. So, they can’t be too upset with Mechamaru believing Toudou had a far better chance of survival than they did.

Momo Nishimiya heading to Shibuya from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 44
Momo Nishimiya heading to Shibuya

Remember what Nanami said when he ran into Naobito, Maki, and Fushiguro. He said that from this point forward, being a grade 1 sorcerer was the minimum. He recognized that the curses still in Shibuya were too dangerous for lower grades. By then, it was pretty much only special-grade curses left.

So, yeah, things likely wouldn’t have gone very well for these non-grade 1 sorcerers if they were in Shibuya. Nobara and Nanami died. And, we still don’t know the fates of Naobito (who seems to be grade 1) and Maki. I assume Maki is alive.

Oh, and I guess I should respond to Toudou’s partner saying there’s a non-zero chance Nobara survives. I’m going to press X to doubt that one. If Nobara somehow survives, that will undo all the work Gege did to try to get us to care about her death. I don’t see it.

Brotherly Bond

Watching Itadori and Toudou tag-team Mahito was awesome. And, it looks like we’re in for even more of this tag-team action in next week’s episode. Why is this such a good fight, though? Well, the simple answer is that I love tag-team fights.

In a lot of shounen battle series, we don’t get fights like this. Typically, the heroes and villains split up and all fight individual battles. Think about something like One Piece. The Straw Hats rarely fight together. Instead, they each go up against an antagonist with similar skills or a similar “rank.”

Jujutsu Kaisen has been pretty good about giving us tag-team fights, and I love when it does that. But, there’s more to a tag-team fight than having multiple characters on one side. They need to actually work together and complement each other’s abilities. That doesn’t always happen.

Aoi Toudou reaching his climax from the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 44
Aoi Toudou reaching his climax

If you have Gojou and Getou fighting together, there’s not much complimenting going on. Both of them are strong enough to fight on their own and their skills don’t mesh very well. Itadori and Toudou is a different situation. They complement each other very well and become stronger when they work together.

Obviously, Toudou’s already crazy strong. But, he benefits a lot from having someone else who can hit as hard as he can. In that regard, Itadori is a great partner for him. Without Itadori, Toudou can’t be as aggressive. He can’t land a powerful hit and then swap in someone else to land another powerful hit.

Itadori benefits from this pairing, as well. He’s already a bit more aggressive than Toudou is. And, Toudou’s teleportation allows Itadori to focus more on offense. He doesn’t need to worry about dodging attacks or his opponent getting away from him. Toudou handles that.

Final Thoughts

What do you think about Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 44? Did Mechamaru set a death flag for Toudou by saying he has a 99% chance of survival? Do you think Mechamaru was right in thinking the sorcerers he “saved” would have died in Shibuya? And, are you expecting Itadori and Toudou to exorcise Mahito?
